5 Simple Tips for Setting A Pretty Table Outside

IMG_9167.JPG

I love to set a table outdoors. Fresh air and natural light create the perfect backdrop setting. A simple, wood table paired with eclectic, comfortable chairs is my favorite table to set. I love seeing the texture of the wood. If I use a tablecloth I like to use it just in the center of the table, leaving a few feet on each end to still see some wood. Below are a few more of my favorite things to use when setting an outdoor table.

  1. White dishes. They are the most versatile, show off the color and texture of the food and are simple.

  2. Cloth napkins. My favorite new napkins for summer are these. They are made out of organic cotton flour sack, are so soft, machine washable and don’t need to be ironed. Of course I also like a good fresh linen napkin or a happy French floral print.

  3. Herb sprigs. like to place them in little bud vases at each place setting, line down the table or tuck them into a napkin ring.

  4. Gatherings from nature. A cut vine down the center of the table. Pretty branches, rocks, moss, tree stumps for height. There are so many pretty textures in nature that will add simple, organic interest to your table.

  5. An element of surprise. Mix in vintage accent pieces. Pretty silver candlesticks, trays, pottery. Anything you find beautiful. I especially love mixing in vintage glassware.

Have fun with it! Make it casual but pretty and enjoy these longer days and warmer evenings gathering with friends and family.

Cheers,

Suzanne
