Best Paint Colors for Summer Interiors

Fresh, Light-Filled Colors That Feel Right at Home in Central Oregon

Summer has a way of changing how we experience our homes.

The days are longer, the light is brighter, and suddenly I find myself wanting spaces to feel lighter, fresher, and more connected to the outdoors.

One of the easiest ways to refresh a home is with paint. And while I don't believe in repainting every time a trend appears, summer is a wonderful time to reconsider the colors surrounding us every day.

Here are some of my favorite paint directions for summer interiors.

Soft Greens That Bring the Outdoors In

If you've followed me for a while, you know green is one of my favorite colors.

Soft sage, eucalyptus, olive, and muted moss tones continue to be some of the most versatile colors I work with.

They feel calming, timeless, and especially appropriate in Central Oregon where nature is such a huge part of daily life.

Warm Whites That Feel Inviting

Not all whites are created equal.

For summer interiors, I gravitate toward warmer whites rather than stark, bright whites. The right warm white reflects natural light beautifully and creates an airy feeling without feeling cold.

These colors pair wonderfully with natural wood, tiles, stone, and marbled materials.

Sand, Oatmeal, and Mushroom Tones

Some of my favorite summer palettes barely feel like color at all.

Soft sandy beiges, warm oat tones, and gentle mushroom shades create a peaceful backdrop that lets furnishings, artwork, and views take center stage.

They're particularly beautiful in open-concept homes.

Soft Blue-Greens Inspired by Water

While I don't use a lot of bright blues, I do love subtle blue-green shades inspired by rivers, lakes, and summer skies.

These colors feel fresh and relaxing without becoming too coastal.

A powder bath, guest bedroom, or reading nook can be a wonderful place to experiment with them.

Let the Light Guide You

One of the most important things I tell clients is this:

Paint never exists by itself.

The same color can look completely different depending on the amount of natural light in a room, the direction the room faces, and the materials surrounding it.

Always test samples first. Live with them for a few days. Watch how they change from morning to evening.

The light will tell you what works.

For me, a palette inspired by nature: soft greens, warm neutrals, and colors always feels beautiful long after summer has passed.

I hope these ideas help guide you in creating a home you love living in every day.
