choosing Sheets | Does Thread Count Matter?

NO! Thread count does not matter.

This count is considered an outdated method of measuring quality in sheets. The truth is, the higher the thread count, the tighter the weave which causes sheets to lose any benefit of cooling and breathing. Our percale sheets by Coyuchi are a 300 thread count which provides a nice, soft weave that also breathes.

I believe sheets can make a difference in our daily lives. I created a guide below to help you decide which type serves you best! Email me here if you have questions or visit the store. If you visit me in the store, I can show you the differences in sheet types and help you choose.

THE SHEET GUIDE TO COMFORT

Organic Cotton Percale

Lightweight, crisp & cool. Percale fabric is made by threads alternating over and under evenly which creates a balanced weave and a matte finish with a crispy smooth hand. Percale feels cool when you slip into bed and its crispness causes it to tent away from your skin allowing for better airflow. If you get warm when you sleep, these will be a great option for you.

Cloud Soft Organic Sateen

Soft, silky and luxurious. If you prefer a sheet that is silky soft and smooth right out of the dryer, our Classic Sateen sheets by Coyuchi will be the perfect choice. Because of their softness, they will conform to your body and will sleep warmer than a traditional percale.

Linen

Breathable and luxurious. Since linen is naturally breathable and adapts to changes in body heat, it’s perfect for all types of sleepers and in all temperatures. Woven from French flax and organically grown, our organic linen sheets are softer, weightier and more enduring than other linens on the market.

Cloud Brushed Flannel

Our most popular sheet in the winter. These sheets are super cozy! Soft and warm as soon as you climb into bed. Our flannel sheets are thicker, warmer and more durable than your average flannel and resist pilling in the wash. If you get cold at night or prefer a sheet with a little weight and warmth that is soft, these sheets are for you.

Extra Credit Tip for a Good Night’s Sleep!

Changing the dressing of your bedding every season to suit your body temperature is the most important factor for sleep. It also gives you one more thing to look forward to each season. Warmer weather? Lighten up your bed. Fold back that duvet that kept you warm all winter, change up to a lightweight coverlet and switch out your flannels for percale.
