How to Choose the Perfect Rug this Fall
We can all admit rugs are not just floor coverings. They serve a multifaceted purpose in our homes that ushers in our experiences, life and beauty. Now, there are different purposes a rug could serve that we’ll be exploring today, to help you decide what you’re looking for and how we can get you there;
choosing Sheets | Does Thread Count Matter?
No. Thread count does not matter.
This count is considered an outdated method of measuring quality in sheets. The truth is, the higher the thread count, the tighter the weave which causes sheets to lose any benefit of cooling and breathing. Our percale sheets by Coyuchi are a 300 thread count which provides a nice, soft weave that also breathes.
Tis the Season. Copper River Season.
Copper River salmon is back and in honor of this fresh tasting fish celebrating its 40th year, I thought I would share my all-time favorite salmon dish from Danielle Kartes. Danielle is a Seattle native and author of three of my favorite cookbooks: ‘Rustic Joyful Food’, ‘Generations’ and her latest, ‘Meant to Share’ which is where this recipe comes from. All three books are equally as popular and available in our store. Come grab one or all three! They sell quickly but don’t worry, I always restock.

Lightening Up Your Home For Spring
As Spring approaches, I like to lighten things up! Two simple ways to do this is to lighten the layers on your bed and bring in more reflective light throughout your home.
Create an indoor spring during a Bend winter
I love to bring spring into my home during the cold months of winter. This is easily done with a few key materials: a frog, a ceramic pot, branches, flowers, greenery and/or herbs.
Do you love spice? Try this Rosemary Cashew Recipe
Spread the cashews out on a sheet pan. Toast in the oven until warm, about 5 minutes.
Tradition and Intention when we Cook and Bake
I like to create traditions for my daughters when cooking and baking. I also believe that as we cook and bake for others, if we do it with intention, that intention gets passed to the person receiving the food.
Falling into Fall
This week I held my first fall photo shoot of the season in Shevlin park and became inspired by the colors. Creatively, a changing season brings a new color palette to my interior design and also to the shop. For the fall season, the palette is filled with browns, greens, tans, mauves, crimsons, mandarins, blues and ivories.
Summer Hydrangea | The Cut and Hammer Method
Keep hydrangea clippings fresh for more than 4 weeks. My magical method in 3 steps.
On the first day of your fresh hydrangea clippings, cut each stem bottom at an angle, about 1-2 inches.
With a hammer, squash the bottom of the stem at your cut. I usually hit the stem 2-3 times.
Fill your vase with faucet or hose water and put your stems in the vase. These should stay fresh for a few weeks or more.
The Center of My Home | The Table
My Instagram feed shows a lot of tables, and I love table tops and with good reason.
It holds space for games, puzzles, meals and heartfelt conversations.
Explore innovative ways to incorporate table decor and accents into your lifestyle; by matching table tops to the mood or main theme of the day

The Story of Jaipur Living Rugs
